About Mexican Pernambuco
Haematoxylum campechianum, also known as campeche or logwood, grows naturally in southern Mexico and is often referred to as “Mexican pernambuco.” It closely matches the playing characteristics of traditional pernambuco, offering comparable strength, flexibility, density, elasticity, and resilience prized by bow makers and musicians alike.
Sourced from managed plantations in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula—originally cultivated for red dye production—this wood provides a sustainable alternative to Brazilian pernambuco. By using an established, responsibly managed resource, we help reduce pressure on endangered forests while maintaining the performance standards players expect.
